ManageFlitter System Outage

ManageFlitter is experiencing a system outage.
We are investigating this matter and will keep you updated.
We apologise for the inconvenience.

ManageFlitter Update – Changes and System Reactivation
6 hours ago

* A Summary of What Has Happened *

On Thursday morning 31 January, at approximately 6am Sydney Australia time, we discovered that Twitter had suspended ManageFlitter’s API access. This resulted in ManageFlitter being unavailable for use by our users. At the same time, Twitter Support emailed us, to communicate that ManageFlitter “has been found in violation of the Developer Agreement and Policy” … “… specifically, your app facilitates bulk and aggressive follow behaviour, such as “follow churn.””

This came as a complete surprise to the ManageFlitter team. We received no prior warning that Twitter had any issue with our product in general or any specific ManageFlitter features. In fact, in September 2018 Twitter approved ManageFlitter with no changes requested, (this process was required as part of Twitter’s new requirement to re approve all Twitter applications).

Since September 2018 there have been no changes to Twitter API policies or changes to our features. Nor has there been any communications from Twitter since September 2018.

ManageFlitter was created in 2010 and compliance with Twitter’s policies has always been treated as very important, both with respect to the development of our application as well as with respect to our customers. We constantly remind our users to make themselves familiar with Twitter’s policies.

We support Twitter’s goal of maintaining a healthy spam free platform, as this is in the long term interests of all Twitter users. However, the lack of warning and communication from team Twitter has made it difficult for us to understand exactly how we should interpret their policies as they apply to our features. Historically we have always complied with any requests Twitter has made to alter any features of our system.

Regardless, we have made some system changes in the attempt to address some of Twitter’s concerns.

The dialogue with Twitter is ongoing, however, we have forged a solution to provide our users immediate access to ManageFlitter.

*System Update*

We are happy to report that the ManageFlitter platform is now active.

*System Changes that have been made*

We have placed restrictions on our Follow Feature functionality: for now, users are able to perform account searches in Power Mode however users will not be able to perform any follow actions manually within ManageFlitter or via our Remote Account Managers.

Follow functionality on Remote Account Management has been removed.

Further system changes may still be forthcoming.

Please note:

Until users re authenticate (log in as normal) their Twitter account with ManageFlitter, scheduled PowerPosts will not be sent and RAM rules will not be active.

Re authentication (normal login) is also required for Business Accounts to ensure the accuracy of statistics via email reports.

Please send us an email via the ManageFlitter Dashboard if you have any further questions. You can also reach out directly to our CEO at ceo@manageflitter.com

To date, ManageFlitter has helped over 4 million Twitter users optimise their Twitter experience. We remain committed to providing a useful set of search, filter, sort and other tools to Twitter users. We also remain committed to working with Twitter according to their policy requirements.

We appreciate the support and patience from our users that we have received during the last couple of days.

As a result of our need to make emergency changes to the system, there may be some quirks. We ask for your patience and please report any bugs or unusual behaviour.

Thank you for choosing ManageFlitter.

ManageFlitter Outage

Sometime overnight (Sydney Australia time) without prior notification to anyone in the ManageFlitter team, Twitter suspended ManageFlitter’s Twitter API access.

This came as a complete surprise to us, as before today we had not received any communication from Twitter bringing to our attention any concerns Twitter may have with any aspect of ManageFlitter.

Once Twitter revoked API access, we were forced to put our application into maintenance mode to prevent further confusion from our users. The app will remain in maintenance mode until we are able to get our Twitter API access reactivated.

We have reached out to Twitter to get more information and hopefully determine a way forward for our product and users.

We thank you for your patience and apologise for the disruption to our service. Updates will follow.
